Leaf Bowl
Last month marked the third annual Maryland Leaf Bowl at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. The weather was perfect for an evening on the Inner Harbor, with temperatures hitting close to 70 degrees when the doors opened to the public.
THE HYPE WAS REAL; a line formed early and extended nearly two blocks. There must have been something in the air because everyone’s smiles lit up the venue for Maryland’s largest Cannabis shindig to date. Baltimore comedian Jonathan Gabriele graced the microphone as our master of ceremonies, spicing up the show with some jokes in between award presentations. Nirvana Cannabis, a dispensary with locations in Baltimore City
and Rosedale, helped bring in this caliber of emcee. For those who have never attended, Maryland Leaf Bowl is an award ceremony where trophies are presented to companies based on real blind taste testing, with any potential bias being eliminated. Awards are presented in the following categories: Edibles, Topicals, Concentrates, Vapes, Flower
and Pre-Rolls. In between award presentations, attendees explored some of the new activations throughout the venue. Leafly brought an artist village, including a live painter, caricature artist, tattoo artists, lounge chairs and a good vibe. Two tattoo artists
from Tattoo Charlie’s in Baltimore gave out free ink to guests. Custom flash sheets were made exclusively for this event, and more than 40 attendees received tattoos. We teamed up with Peake ReLeaf Dispensary out of Rockville to bring in the HiScore video game lounge and competition. The top score in Guitar Hero for the day — as well as the winners of our Tekken 8 and Mario Kart World competitions — received a free Puffco Proxy. In
addition to the established competitions, guests could also play these games all night.
Cobrastrk was back on the ones and twos this year, adding a musical element that kept spirits as high as we were. A professional photo booth was brought in by Bloom Dispensary in Germantown. Everyone was smiling and dancing while they had their photos taken. Whether it was a trophy, a tattoo from Tattoo Charlie’s, a caricature of you and
your friends or swag from the amazing vendors, everyone got to take something memorable home. Every year, we learn new ways to improve the Leaf Bowl experience, and we want to thank everyone for the support as we continue to make this the best celebration possible. A massive thank you to our sponsors, vendors and entrants. All of the hard work that goes into producing a gathering of this size is immediately worth it when we see the happiness emanating from attendees, including our staff and competition directors.
